Seiko launches two panda-flavored Speedtimer chronographs inspired by 1972 design
Seiko has expanded its line of Prospex Speedtimer mechanical chronographs, first launched in 2021, with two models inspired by the 1972 design.
The SRQ047 features a stone white dial with blue chronograph counters, blue tachymeter ring, and orange-tipped central chronograph seconds hand.
The SRQ049 features a blue-grey dial with silver counters to commemorate Seiko's 100th anniversary.
In 2021, Seiko celebrates the company's 140th anniversary with the launch of six Speedtimer chronographs – two fully mechanical models and four solar-powered models. Last week, Seiko launched two more Prospex Speedtimer mechanical chronographs replica Watches luxury: the SRQ047 and the limited edition SRQ049. This time, however, the catalyst for this novel pairing was Seiko's 100th anniversary. Confused? Since Seiko loves to celebrate anniversaries every chance it gets, it's understandable to be confused. As we celebrate our 140th anniversary in 2021, how do we celebrate our 100th anniversary now? Well, yes, the company that became Seiko was born in 1881, but the first watch with “Seiko” on the dial was launched in 1924. Yes, it's still 2023 and these watches will be available in December 2023, so the celebrations are a little premature. Still, this ultimately means that Seiko fans have two panda-flavored, '70s-inspired chronographs to choose from ahead of the holiday gift-giving season.
The first of these two models is the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Mechanical Chronograph SRQ047, which is directly inspired by the 6138-8020 from 1972 by Seiko ref. Rather than being a structural derivative, it has a completely different case and bracelet design. The dial layout and complications are also different. Aesthetically, however, you can see similarities with vertical brushed stone white or silver dials, complemented by blue counters, a blue tachymeter scale, and an orange-tipped central chronograph seconds hand. Looking closely at the stepped blue counters, the counters at 9' and 6' represent 30 minutes and 12 hours respectively, and are visually outlined by orange-tipped hands, which means that all hands are connected to the chronograph complication. There's this visual indicator. The small seconds, central hour and minute hands, and applied hour markers at 3 feet are filled with white LumiBrite that glow in the dark.high quality watches replica
Looking at the limited edition SRQ049, the blue tach scale and orange accents remain. However, the rest of the dial aesthetic is the opposite of the SRQ047, with a blue-grey dial complemented by silver counters. Like the SRQ047, the color-matched date window is at the 4:30 position. Both watches use a stainless steel case and a super-hard-coated bracelet. The case diameter is 42 mm and the thickness is 14.6 mm, full of sporty atmosphere. However, the limited edition SRQ049 costs AU$300 more due to the inclusion of an extra leather strap. In the context of Seiko, both companies find themselves pricing at the high end. To be fair, these 100-meter water-resistant chronographs are powered by the in-house 8R48 column wheel chronograph movement with a 45-hour power reserve. So it has good tech and specs, and prices start at $2,500/AU$3,900. However, I won't pretend that it's far beyond the Swiss-powered competition lines from brands like Hanhart and Sinn. Ultimately, the true value of this product stems from the traditional inspiration of these two references, and for those driven by the aesthetics of modern craftsmanship and historical roots. replica luxury watches
